MISSION POST - JANUARY

MISSION POST - JANUARY
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

The following events are available for the month of January.

In Sheep’s Clothing (January 1st, OOC date January 6th)
A pro-Nightfall cult intending to sway more impressionable students to their side has finally decided to put their plan into action (and completely ruin New Years for a lot of people). A not-insignificant amount of students, fearing further danger and the fact that their fight may in fact all be for nothing (or they can no longer be protected), have fallen prey to these extended manipulations - tracking them down and convincing them to come home is the first priority.
This event is a player plot. The plotting post for this event is here.

Dawnbreaking Party (January 10th)
Though the last year has been one of difficulties and dangers, it has also been one of great heroism and victory. Daybreak has been an instrumental force in stopping two Heralds, among other threats, and in lieu of the traditional assembly, a party to celebrate the exceptional work of their students is being held. For some, this might be an opportunity to reflect proudly on their academic achievements; for others, it might be their accomplishments on more unusual and combative areas that they feel deserve praise.

No matter what, though, the Academy has made it clear that the students and faculty are people they are proud to have under their banner, and the nature of this party certainly reflects that. They offer the traditional lavish spread of food and drink, of course, but they’ve also prepared entertainment that includes giving the students the run of the local amusement park for the day.

Residual Christmas Cheer (January 24th)
Demons in full christmas attire have been spotted terrorizing local shopping centres, apparently under the mistaken impression that they’re ‘ruining Christmas’. Thoroughly trounce them and give them a lesson that they might learn...though, on the other hand, they might just be back again for some other holiday. At least it’s a fairly straightforward problem?

Topple The Tyrant (January 25th)
An evil and well connected mage is trying to sabotage Daybreak in hopes of usurping its role in stopping Nightfall. In order to put a stop to his efforts, the school has authorized a small group of students and faculty to discretely retaliate.
Faculty: Jailbreak [personal profile] nor_iron_bars
Students: Goro Akechi [personal profile] foolishjustice, Ren [personal profile] prisoneroffate, Cordelia Brooks [personal profile] buddinghopes, Maverick Taylor [personal profile] deuteranope
This is a player mission organized by [personal profile] foolishjustice, with details here. It does not have open signups.

Faculty-run/Monthly Events

Mini-prompts that can be incorporated into catchall logs, or made into logs of their own. These prompts count for faculty log AC as long as at least one faculty member is responsible for starting the log, though they can also be joint logs.
Players are free to incorporate these prompts into their own logs, even if they are not faculty.

Celestial Movement
The mountains that surround the Academy are predicted to have an unusual amount of falling stars landing among them - some view it as a bad omen, others a sign of change to come. These meteoric fragments are well-known for their supernatural properties, so the Academy has asked that those with some spare time on their hands work to gather as many as possible, to be forged back at the Anvil of Hadur.

Yggdrasil’s Harvest
Some of the more potent magical plants that the Academy cultivates are currently being harvested early in January, as their magical potential reaches its peak during the ‘death’ of the old year and the beginning of the new. As many of these plants are experimental strains, their properties are not entirely documented (though participants are reassured that any potential effects are no more potent than minor magics), and researchers would like assistance in discovering exactly what they can do - whether they respond best to being boiled in potions, ground into pastes or poultices, or used fresh as spell components, among other things.

Spring(?) Cleaning
Many of the enchanted snow-creatures and creations (and abominations) from December are still lurking around the Academy’s grounds. While the Academy hasn’t officially said much about it, it’s not unheard of for faculty to gather up any willing students (or other faculty) and...take care of the problems they present, especially when they start making themselves a nuisance to people on campus.

Library Duties
A new year means that the clutter of the old year needs to be rearranged, cleaned and occasionally removed. The library is currently asking for assistance in handling the more unruly tomes - protective equipment, especially gloves, is recommended. Participants can expect to encounter books that fly, bite, and are even capable of casting the occasional spell without a wielder.
