Player Plot: Daemon King Zarc
Hello all, I'm kicking off Yuya's personal plot regarding Zarc with a couple missions! These missions IC will be short and quick (no more than a day or two) and are open for up to 6 people each, not counting Yuya! Ideally, it'll be 1 faculty and 5 students, but I'm flexible if a mission doesn't have enough students/faculty sign up to allow spaces to fill. Please only sign up for one mission to start, and if they don't fill up by their run date then I can open it up for doubling up.
The IC dates are pending to sometime late April/early May, I'll schedule them where they don't overlap with the school's other missions.
So now let's get into the information:
HISTORY
The daemon king Zarc was a reigning terror to both the Outlands and Earth. Unlike other daemons, he had no interest in making deals and instead forcibly subjugated people and creatures into an army that he used to simply raze down anything that stood in his way, building his territory based on how large of a border of destruction he could create. He had no peers even among his own kind, more inclined to meet them in battles of death to prove the superior strength.
14 years ago, a combined company of runic guard and hunters who had been pursuing him managed to finally kill the daemon in northern Japan. After that they spread their efforts to reducing the remains of his army and over the past 6 years have been reducing the hold on his old territories on Earth.
Zarc is a well documented name for anyone who might be studying daemonic history or looking through an encyclopedia. His death is publicized as a relief, although a few opinion articles saved in the library are full of conspiracies that such a high profile daemon couldn't really have been beat.
What's harder to find, outside of a couple older texts, is that there's record that Zarc at one point had a positive relationship with humans. These are mostly written from the standpoint of caution to not trust daemons, because they're inherently destructive and could turn on you.
There are fragments of his summoning circle from this time, but it's currently impossible to find the entire finished circle. What little pieces are available look complex.
MISSION #1
Takes place on Kyushu Island, Kagoshima Prefecture. 20 years ago, a semi-isolated coastal town with a heavy presence of mages was obliterated by the daemon king Zarc. While little is believed to have survived, recent excavations by the non-magical government of Japan have unearthed that a couple artifacts and books may have survived. A group by the Academy is to be sent out immediately to excavate these objects before the local government acquires them to preserve the status of secrecy and salvage heirlooms of the decimated community.
MISSION #2
Deep in the Polish side Białowieża Forest, a hulking creature from the Outlands has been navigating closer and closer to human borders. It's description, based on a couple scouts that barely escaped with their lives (and not all their limbs) matches a juggernaut that had been part of Zarc's destructive army. Presumably since his death 14 years ago the creature has been roaming aimlessly, but the danger it poses to people means that it needs to be handled before it actually escapes the forest. The group on this mission will be expected to be ready for combat, but may handle the beast however they see appropriate (banishing it, taming it, killing it, etc) so long as it isn't drawn into human territory.
