OOC INFORMATION - CHASING THE SUN

OOC INFORMATION - CHASING THE SUN

The Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year - when the night’s gloom has the strongest hold on the northern hemisphere is a time of death and rebirth, of reversals - and this event is no different. The hunter becomes the hunted, the once terrifying Lord of the Hunt is now the Sacrificial Boar, and in its wake comes the ghosts of regrets that seem to demand someone’s attention as if catching them would somehow put the restless feelings to rest, allowing a new start for when spring arrives.

However, this year, the ritual hunt performed by the fae has been disrupted by agents of Nightfall: three shadowy amorphous figures that seem to resent humans and other beings for being ‘illogical’ and ‘emotional’. The trio had taken the form of large wolves that leave a trail of unnatural grayness in their wake. Their presence somehow made the ghosts of regret more restless, more compelling - as if they fear this is the last time those who see them have a chance to ease their burdens. What this means is that characters participating in the event will see spirits that represent moments of guilt or regrets from their past, and if they follow it, they might feel as if some of their burdens are lifted or they find the fortitude to atone for some past sin.

If the boar itself falls to the wolves hands, the yearly ritual is disrupted - while it seems nothing happens, it introduces an element of chaos that causes the Earth to subtly far more in sync with the Outlands. Successfully saving the Boar will keep things moving as they should, and will garner good favor with this particular group.

While the actual chase will take place entirely in the forests and the woods outside of Soleil and the Academy itself, the Ghosts of Past Regrets can appear everywhere, and may even for the lack of a better word lure their intended audience out so they get the message.

Sherlock will be in and will get a new form out of it. He had planned on mainly being a spotter.
