MISSION POST - MARCH

MISSION POST - MARCH
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

The following events are available for the month of March.

Echo of the Bells (5th March)
There have been reports of strange hauntings in the sewers of Florence, with notable emphasis on the sound of jingling bells and masked revelers that seem to disappear right before a person’s eyes. As it was perceived to be a low-risk haunting, it’s deemed to be a suitable mission to teach students how to investigate and resolve such incidents.

Class Exchange - Tower of Adamant (16th March)
The infamously reclusive Tower of Adamant, after some extensive deliberation, has allowed Daybreak Academy to initiate an exchange with its students. A select group of students and faculty will spend some time at the Tower of Adamant to learn their ways of preparing for Nightfall - those selected are expected to be on their best behavior, especially since the Tower’s way of training students is said to be vastly different to, and far more structured than, the Academy’s.

How To Train Your Apocalypse Baby (19th March)
The Herald has undergone some rapid changes, and has seemingly reached a new stage of growth - though what its rapid changes are in response to are unknown at this point. Its caretakers have given permission for enrichment opportunities and question-answering (since it has many, many more of them) in order to guide its care and personality.

Dracula’s Hostages (4th March for the initial plot, 11th for Castle raid)
One rainy night, someone had slipped into the Campus, making off with a certain math professor and a detective and a threatening message to one of the students - the vampire Dracula has finally come out of hiding, but what business did he have at the Academy? Now that he showed up, there is no ignoring the fact that such an infamous figure is now on the move, especially with potential hostages…?
This is a Player Plot - details are be posted in the OOC post here

Village in the Mists (24th March)
A mysterious construct has visited the Academy in recent days, leaving behind a puzzle and a message; that there is a village, somewhere, with people like Vivi, and that the enigmatic visitor will come later in the month to take him there to ‘regain what he lost’. Chasing his forgotten past, Vivi is prepared to leave the Academy for as long as it takes to find the truth of his existence - though he won’t say no to company.
This is a player plot. An OOC post will be put up to arrange further details and signups later in the month.

Faculty-run/Monthly Events

Mini-prompts that can be incorporated into catchall logs, or made into logs of their own. These prompts count for faculty log AC as long as at least one faculty member is responsible for starting the log, though they can also be joint logs.
Players are free to incorporate these prompts into their own logs, even if they are not faculty.

Carnival on Campus
The beginning of March brings an explosion of festivals, particularly the popular Carnival. While the Academy doesn’t as such host something for it, it’s at the very least widely accepted that people might look even odder than usual for a while. Many people are happy to get even more dressed up and wear masks and colorful costumes to celebrate, which means you might see an even more eclectic collection of students in classes for a few weeks.

Flowers in Bloom
While spring has not yet sprung, the snow is beginning to melt away - and in the outside gardens around Soleil and the Academy itself, some hardy blooms are beginning to pop up. Those who have been on campus at least a year might recognize these as smaller versions of the giant flowers that, depending on who you talk to, plague or decorate the campus every spring. Docile and small for the moment, it’s a good opportunity to take a few cuttings for yourself - whether to cultivate for your own, to use in experiments on what exactly gives them their properties of prodigious, giant growth, or just to prune them back a bit so they don’t overrun the place later.

Rings of Change
Several types of magical plants have sensed the drawing back of winter and have begun to sprout on campus grounds - many signalling (or foreshadowing) the later growth of fairy rings, as they grow in circular patterns. While these little circles of flowers are essentially harmless and much less alarming than their more powerful cousins, they tend to transform random items when walked over into something of a different style or colour - if you like your glasses, accessories and clothing just the way they are, you should probably watch your step on the lawns, and stay out of the way.

In addition, the plants attract the tiny, mischievous fae most commonly known as pixies - small and swift nuisances that will serve as a minor inconvenience to your life in a variety of ways. Since the dust they naturally shed is coveted as a magical ingredient (and can also be turned into something to keep them away), the Academy has asked that people do their best to collect the dust without harming them.

Petting Zoo
As Nightfall draws near and tests again draw near, animals both magical and mundane have been brought onto campus for students to relieve their stress somewhat. All magical creatures, it’s reassured, are well-trained.
In addition to last year’s pack of affectionate Aralez and a pair of colourful guardian lions, a fiery salamander that exudes a comfortable, warm aura and a pair of playful baby gryphons (along with their watchful mother) will be showing up on campus in the next month. Whether you’re taking some time out from your studies or work to play with them, or you’re simply taking them out for walks, food or other animal necessities, they’re certainly powerful distractions.
