MISSION POST - APRIL

MISSION POST - APRIL
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation
The following events are available for the month of April.
Mages’ Ball (April 30th)
Walpurgisnacht is coming soon, a time for those inclined towards magic to celebrate or hold rituals, and to ward off evil - but among the Mages of Europe, it is a time for an annual ball where they introduced their new heirs, arrange marriages, and (in theory) cast aside old grudges. However, there is one long-standing grudge - thanks to an incident long lost to history, Daybreak Academy has been snubbed and disinvited from this gathering - and a new tradition was born: to crash the party and prank the hell out of the mages, without being bad enough for them to justify going after the academy.
Or you could try to sway some mages to Daybreak’s cause, while you’re there. But where would be the fun in that?
(Note: This log will be posted up several days before the end of the month, in order to give people more time to tag.)
Seniors Sendoff (April 1st-April 7th)
Though graduation for Daybreak Academy’s seniors isn’t until May, it’s a long-standing tradition to allow any large-scale ‘’experiments’’ to take place in early April, as a last celebration of student whimsy and capability. While last year’s was a fairly quiet affair that passed without major incident, many of the senior students this year have banded together in order to concoct strange potions of...various effects. Upon drinking or being splashed by these hidden surprises, students and staff alike may find themselves with striking animal features or even transformed into animals themselves. Thematically fitting, naturally - and not limited to mundane animals, either. Magical creatures, too, are fair game.
On the other hand, you might get struck with another ‘brand’ of pranking potion, one of a particularly unusual nature - you might find yourself in a body that’s not yours, or be sharing a body with someone that’s not you...
For those desperately unhappy with such foolishness, the Academy has a strict policy in place that such concoctions, pranks and spells be temporary - so the effects, at most, will last only until the 7th of April. In addition, due to the unstable nature of these experimental concoctions, some might find their effects wearing off earlier than expected.
Though there will be a log for this event, players are free to use the effects of this event for their own posts as well.
Distant Calling (April 20th)
Though the black mage village visit was uneventful, a magical distress call from that same village will arrive in late April - only partially sent before being abruptly cut off. Vivi will be pursuing the source - and cause - of that call, whether anyone goes with him or not….and in doing so, will uncover deeper truths about his own existence.
(This is a player plot. More information can be found here.)
Changeling Blues (no set date, mid-April)
Professor Urtz Cromwell has been feeling ill lately, and it turns out that her illness is actually due to a particularly nasty case of possession by a ghost with a terrible grudge. As a precaution against being forced to do terrible things against her will, she’s magically sealed herself in the hidden tunnels that run the length and breadth of the Academy - but to rescue her, a confrontation is inevitable…

Faculty-run/Monthly Events
Mini-prompts that can be incorporated into catchall logs, or made into logs of their own. These prompts count for faculty log AC as long as at least one faculty member is responsible for starting the log, though they can also be joint logs.
Players are free to incorporate these prompts into their own logs, even if they are not faculty.
Giant Blooms
As the weather warms, the distinctive giant flowers on Daybreak’s campus are once again beginning to bloom. Huge stems, flowers and leaves provide shortcuts or hindrances across campus, and new and novel places to exercise. They also attract their own kinds of pollinators - the magical insects known as woolly bugs. Though cute and docile, a number of them feed on warmth and body heat, making living creatures - or anything that counts as a heat source - attractive targets. These large flowers, and their cat-sized pollinators, will remain on campus for at least a month.
The Art of War
Though the atmosphere at the Academy may be light, many of the staff that spend their time underground - especially those dedicated to the art of combat - aren’t idle; far from it. Weapons, supplies, armor and other equipment vital to defend Daybreak and to take the fight to Nightfall’s supporters directly need checking and maintenance; those faculty and students more accustomed to battle have been asked not only to help maintain these supplies, but to lend a fresh eye for more experimental prototypes.
Clean Up Aisle Alchemy
While the worst of the pranks had subsided, there is still the matter of cleaning up after the mess. Appropriately warded suits are on hand to deal with potion spills.
Monthly Faculty Night
With the stress of Nightfall and classes as an ever-looming spectre, even staff need some time off. Whether you’re collecting gossip, unwinding from teaching, or simply just here to hang out with your coworkers, it probably won’t result in anything being set on fire. You hope.
