[INFOPOST] Mark of the Herald Part II

Mark of the Herald Part II
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

As the last days of summer slip away and September begins in earnest, the next Herald hasn’t been idle. Those afflicted by the mark will dream of a great mountain emerging from the deep and a chorus of voices calling them to protect humanity, and those still in the deep sleep inflicted by the Herald’s mark begin to all sleepwalk to a single place or otherwise turn their faces towards a certain location. In addition, the marks will begin to blossom, changing in shape and detail.
On September 10th, a mountain will rise from swirling waters in the Atlantic, paths of eldritch light will lay themselves over the ocean’s waves, and the siren song of the Herald will become abundantly clear as five glowing figures pull themselves from the glowing heart of the mountain.
And those who have prepared for Utultar... will receive a rude awakening. The fourth Herald of Night has not yet achieved his appointed hour.
The next Herald is no less than the collective subconscious of humanity made manifest in five major aspects of a single vast mind, all linked together by the desire to save it from the apocalypse - even if that means laying waste to, and abandoning, all the world. A day and night of sustained battle is all that stands between the world and Nightfall.
The Beast That Is Man, third Herald of Night, is awake. May you survive the ascension.
This event will be run in one log, and will provide toplevels for the five fights as well as a series of open prompts for characters who are noncombatants or wish to be support crew instead and space for characters to do their own toplevels.
-Destroying the five parts of the current Herald.
-Searching for and rescuing both unaffected and affected people as the sleepwalking Marked begin to manifest their powers and the ones who are awake either try to resist or are drawn towards the mountain.
-Defending the mountain itself and stopping sleepers from climbing it without harming them.
-Supporting combatants, fortifying defenses, treating injuries, and other important tasks that don’t involve direct combat.
Characters are able to run their own support team threads as well as fighting bosses - you can do both, not just one or the other! You can also play out aftermath threads on the event log.
Boss fights will be run directly by the mod team, with a few special rules to keep it easy and fun and to give everyone an equal chance to look cool and do interesting things. We will be providing a write-up once the event has run its course. Characters’ threads and toplevels during this event will change the content of the writeup.
The most important in-universe thing that this event will do to the setting is that the Veil will have begun to break, or in some cases, will have been shattered entirely. The existence of the supernatural, due to the Herald’s worldwide activity and its link to humanity, can no longer be truly hidden from the general public. This is not a total upheaval, but it does mean that certain elements of character circumstances can be played with more freely if you choose to do so, for use in player plots or for character development.
Event logs and news will also reflect this changing world state. (We’d like to take a moment to say that in no circumstances will this result in a setting where non-magical people universally turn against magic and the supernatural, nor will it be a hostile environment for your characters going forward.)

Questions/Feedback
Boss Fight Sign-ups
Rather than one long megathread, all characters will have their own sub-threads under a boss’ toplevel, which will hopefully make fights easier to keep track of.
Boss Signup Form
Player name: Your name.
Character name: Character’s name.
Boss fight: Which aspect this character will be fighting. If you want your character to participate in more than one fight, you can list multiple aspects.
Major injury dealt to boss: (This can be either a physical or mental wound; ie “my character uses a powerful technique to destroy one of the aspect’s limbs” or “my character convinces the aspect through force of will that one of their worldviews is wrong”.) Each participant can only deal one injury in a given boss’ fight.
Order: First/second/third/etc. This helps us determine which injuries the boss has already sustained within each thread, and which character gets the finishing blow. The character with the highest number in the order will get the finishing blow, unless someone else has requested it.
Threat level from boss: This lets us know how rough we’re allowed to get within each thread. Minor threat means that your character is treated as roughly as would make sense for the aspect’s threat level, but doesn’t suffer major harm; they might be scratched, worn out, bruised, etc, but escape mostly unscathed. Major threat means that characters will sustain wounds that need medical attention and suffer more extensive damage.
What do you want from this fight? Details that will help us make your thread better. Injuries you want? Injuries you don’t want? Things you’d like to avoid or things you’d like to have happen should be put here.
Additional participant: If you want to have a multi-character thread (such as fighting as a duo, or having one character support while the other fights), let us know here and name the character who is being paired with yours. The limit is two characters in one thread.
NPC Signup Form
For this event, you won’t fight alone! These characters and allied organisations will show up in boss fights in mod tags as forces aiding you against the Herald, and are for use in your own toplevels as well as potentially those of others.
Player name: Your name.
Character/organisation/group name: Character or organisation name.
Key details: Fighting style, looks, key figures within group, etc.
Free use?: Can these characters be used by other players in their toplevels, or do you only want them to be used by the mods?
THE ASPECTS
Interestingly, perhaps due to their fundamental connection to humanity, characters may sometimes see the Aspects as people they know who they feel are deeply aligned with or truly embody one of the sins and/or virtues in question, as well as also seeing their actual forms. In addition, while all Aspects speak in a chorus of voices, both marked and unmarked humans and those who have become marked by the Herald may hear the voices of people they know - or their own voices - echoed back at them.
Because clearly what this situation needed was to be even more disorienting.
Arrogance/Curiosity
A tattered spectre adorned with heads and wielding symbols of knowledge and enlightenment. Hungry for souls, brains and the knowledge contained within them, this aspect will attempt to siphon memories and emotions from characters, sever parts of their body for trophies, and then devour them, with the strongest and most significant parts of a character being what it covets most.
Believes that humanity’s knowledge is the only thing worth preserving; the soul is eternal, the body and physical senses of no consequence.
Rage/Compassion
A humanoid energy being with childlike proportions that shifts into a more powerful ‘adult’ form when angered. Views all characters as intruders into its perfect paradise, and won’t hesitate to continue attacking them until they’re obliterated or punished to its satisfaction. Inhabits a blank and featureless battlefield that becomes increasingly cracked and saturated with violent intent as the fight goes on.
Believes that the only thing that can save humanity is to strike the first blow against anything that is perceived as a threat, and fights anything or anyone that resists it.
Complicity/Independence (cw: body horror- lots of hands!)
A weeping serpent made out of hundreds of hands simultaneously protecting a ‘heart’ and pulling sleepwalkers into its mass. Will descend onto sleepwalking groups and groups of marked individuals in attempts to absorb them and ‘save’ them by holding them inside itself. Destroy its mask or convince it that humanity is capable of protecting itself - or others are capable of protecting humanity - to stop its advance and free those within.
Selfishness/Pity
A puppeteer who has puppets serve as its limbs and servants. The core is weak and easily cut down, but it has hundreds of different puppets to use in its defense, playing on both fears and joys and using a character’s different ‘faces’ to try and slow them down, reason with them or attack them. Will assault and surround characters with masses of themselves. Can also form blobs of puppets into weapons or semi-sentient beasts to fight for it.
Looks down on humans and nonhumans alike, seeing them as weak victims or disposable.
Law/Chaos (cw: mild body horror)
A humanoid, armored being with a draconic lower body. Generates a field of influence that forces all combatants to submit to Law (shapeshifts and changes characters, their attacks, and/or their equipment) or surrender to Chaos (constantly shifts and changes the environment around characters). Its battlefield is a shifting, changing mass of every possible earthly environment.
Believes that its duty is to create a new and harsher world that only the worthy will survive, and submits all souls to judgement under its blade.
Noncombat Support
no subject
no subject
Character name: Snatcher
Boss fight: Law/Chaos
Major injury dealt to boss: Arm, either sword-arm or non-dominant arm per mod's discretion
Order: 3 or 4 by mod discretion. I want to give other people the glory of dealing the final blow.
Threat level from boss: Minor, but please see next entry
What do you want from this fight? I know for a fact that I would like this to end with Avery getting knocked out. Otherwise he'll keep going until Law/Chaos is destroyed and like I said, I'd like other people to have the glory of getting the finishing blow. Otherwise, I want to play on his ability to exploit loopholes with the Law aspect of things and him being able to roll with the Chaos aspect. I figure his pride will get the best of him, which should allow the aspect room to take advantage and knock him out before someone else comes in.
Additional participant: Ekkehardt, who will also be the one to drag Avery's ass away when he gets knocked out.

Also, can a single character be signed up to perform both Noncombat Support and participation in a boss fight?
Boss Fight Boss Fight
Character name: Puella
Boss fight: Arrogance/Curiosity
Major injury dealt to boss: Going to shoot as many stars at them as it takes, since it is their strongest attack now.
Order: No preference. Will go last if no one else takes it
Threat level from boss: Low-key Major injuries, no permanent damage or long-term but anything that could need immediate attention and could have her out for a day or so. Since it is her first serious fight in a long while it should be a bit stakey and consequential.
What do you want from this fight? Other than Puella getting to be a badass, it should be the first time her heritage/family legacy (whatever it should be called?) finally gets outed beyond a few close CR. All the more reason to be sought after and "Preserved" when there's magical knowledge so few have anymore.
Character name: Emizel
Boss fight: Law/Chaos
Major injury dealt to boss: Weaken it with elemental magic.
If he is allowed to use his scythe because this is a more urgent matter, cutting off a limb would be rad as hell.Order: No preference
Threat level from boss: Minor or Major is alright depending on how the fight goes
What do you want from this fight? Reapers have judged souls (albeit generally very bad/sinful ones) all the time and there is some awkward "Holier than thou" gatekeeping that a mini reaper had never really thought about much until recently. Since he had been gradually growing more tolerable to humans and finally figuring out "not all of them are bad, only some are bad" it could finally put what he has learned so far to the test.
There's also the fact that he is a very lawful, "by the books" type and needs to learn to embrace chaos and unpredictability more often. Witnessing Order amped up to 11 would probably fix that.
Character name: The Knight
Boss fight: Selfishness/Pity
Major injury dealt to boss: Nail stabs? Nail stabs...
Order: No preference
Threat level from boss: Knight can take a beating, so Minor or Major injuries are fine again.
What do you want from this fight? Vessels pretty much were failed puppet fodder, even though the Knight doesn't quite know or figured this out yet so all the themes of being useless and disposable all work out perfectly, and having to fight through a bunch of their own kind to drive the point of how replaceable they are. And just using the bodies of several vessels as nothing more than shields (if only they knew about one Sibling in particular that's still infected...).
They already been thrown out once
and again in the dream, and they escaped. And now there was people that helped them escape a second time. So no they are worth something and this is rude. Their siblings deserve so much better too.no subject
Character/organisation name: YoRHA
Key details: Previously largely a secret, a giant eldritch horror coming out of the ocean is the kind of thing they were made to fight. The soldiers are almost entirely young women aged 16 to 25, with the occasional young man in the same age range apparently running support.
The soldiers all fight like this (look up "nier automata combat" if the video doesn't load for you) and several will be accompanied by a pod like robot that shoots lasers. The units all wear fatigues, seemingly dependent on what they're doing. Yes, with the blindfolds. They're visors.
Of particular note is that every single unit on the ground has perfectly white hair, like Nines's. They don't use names, either, referring to each other by a number and one of the following letters: B, D, H (if in battle), O, or S (if one of the support units). It's "number-letter", like "6O", "4S", or "42H". There are no women S-types, nor are there any men in any of the other units.
Free use?: Yes! Feel free to poke me if you need any clarification :D

Second question: Yes.

Character name: Jailbreak
Boss fight: Arrogance/Curiosity
Major injury dealt to boss: Maybe somehow exploiting its' attempts to steal parts of people by causing it to take something that actually damages it? Tricking it into stealing her nonfunctional lungs might be fun.
Order: Would prefer not to go first, otherwise fine with whatever.
Threat level from boss: Uh. How do you define "it stole my lungs but I wasn't using those, it's fine"? I'm going to say minor injuries.
What do you want from this fight? For Jailbreak to severely weaken the boss via doing some kind of sneaky bullshit. Does not by any means need to be the finishing blow, just something that makes the finishing blow possible.
Additional participant: Anyone who wants to partner up with me is welcome.

Outside the battleground, most forms of electronic and digital forms of communications work fine - but more prone to drops, distortions, and delays the closer one gets to the epicenter until it hits the base of the mountain, where it is affected like above.
no subject
Character name: Kokoro Belmont
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence
Major injury dealt to boss: Strategic axe throw to the
coremaskOrder: Wherever you want to throw her at
Threat level from boss: Major or minor is fine with me.
What do you want from this fight? Just for Kokoro to get in a good shot and some yelling about how there are people who have always fought for the world and there always will be.
QUILL Signup
Character/organisation name: QUILL
Key details: A Rune Guard organization specializing in military-style special operations against occult foes from the Outlands and dedicated to protecting Humankind from Nightfall. Known for being somewhat anti-Veil with the looming apocalypse, and desiring more free dissemination of supernatural information to help humankind better prepare for the worst. Formerly headed by Asimov, the man who betrayed Gunvolt and left him for dead. Currently headed by Moniqa, who is now dedicated to carrying on QUILL's intended legacy of helping protect people and Candles.
QUILL Agents tend to be users of runic based magic, with the occasional Candle in their mix. Most of their equipment and personnel are more like supernatural soldiers and special-forces. They're typically armed with magically attuned or improved modern military gear, with the occasional interesting magical trinket here or there. Essentially, not too different than Daybreak's NPC Away Teams in practice, but less well equipped due to cost.
No QUILL agents are as outright powerful as Asimov was, or as Gunvolt currently is. That said, while their numbers are relatively few, they're well trained and are experienced fighters, suitable for combat or support duties as necessary.
Free use?: Yes, with the proviso that Moniqa and Zeno (the only two named QUILL NPCs that would be here) do not come under permanent harm.

Character name: Valvatorez
Boss fight: Selfishness/Pity
Major injury dealt to boss: Cut through waves of puppets and punch the boss square in the nose with his fist.
Order: Not last, unless no one else signs up for this fight, ideally letting a student finish the fight off.
Threat level from boss: High end of minor, given he's a badass daemon and it takes a lot to kill him. The mental damage will be more significant, though.
What do you want from this fight? I want the puppets to torment the hell out of Valvatorez's selfishness in keeping his promise no matter the cost, and to test his resolve by taking the forms of the people he loves, cares about, and his friends, up to and including Artina. Ideally, I want Valvatorez to confront that he is being selfish in how he operates, and having to break through those puppets as he realizes they're bullshit, thus cutting down people he cares about to try to save humankind.
I really want to ultimately, shake Valvatorez's sense of pride enough to wonder if keeping his promise is actually the right thing to do, even if it might not fully dissuade him on its own.
Additional participant: Uh, I'm open to another being part of this but I haven't plotted anything.
Character name: Gunvolt
Boss fight: Rage/Compassion
Major injury dealt to boss: Striking the Heart of Rage with a Monarch-amped Grand Strizer. Mirroring his defeat of Asimov, this time not in revenge, but in conviction to protect innocent life, no matter who they are or where they come from.
Order: Whatever works, the Grand Strizer need not be fatal to the creature.
Threat level from boss: Major, but nothing permanent. Gunvolt's point is going to be hard to prove, and he's going to get punished for it, but it has to be made.
What do you want from this fight? Initially trying to talk the collective unconscious down, though he'll probably hear the voice of Asimov through the rage and anger the unconsciousness reflects. Gunvolt probably gets hurt while professing his beliefs against the ideas of reaching out with a fist first, and acknowledges that if he has to defeat Rage itself for Compassion to exist, he'll do it.
Additional participant: Definitely Monarch, who will just hang around Gunvolt during the battle. Possibly Desi if Espilan wants in, given GV and Desi are typically glued at the hip.
Character name: Leon S. Kennedy
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence
Major injury dealt to boss: Calling out the creature's hypocrisy in forcing unwilling individuals into its "protection" as unjust and demeaning, and that he won't let it take his fellow humans. Possibly as he fires a rocket launcher at its mask.
Order: Whichever, I'm not picky.
Threat level from boss: The higher end of Minor, enough that Leon might sustain some injuries, but enough for him to limp off and keep trying to help people after the fact.
What do you want from this fight? Leon demonstrating the dauntlessness of the human spirit to save others (the sleepwalkers or marked in this case) in the face of an overwhelming horror-terror.
no subject
Character name: Clifford Norman.
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence, Rage/Compassion.
Major injury dealt to boss:
C/I: bites to arms, maybe some tearing of them away to free up people inside or make it harder for it to bring them in.
R/C: Uh...the emotional pain of beating up something that struggles but doesn't fight back, idk.
Order: No preference on either.
Threat level from boss:
C/I: minor.
R/C: major, I'd like him down for the count on this one.
What do you want from this fight?
C/I fight will be a lot of confronting his fear of being a werewolf and seeing the benefits of that while still being careful. Arms make for good targets, especially with how he doesn't like getting grabbed, but he doesn't want to bite a Real person's arm and spread the blight. It'll be tough seeing the aspect's arms as not human.
R/C is going to screw him up by appearing as a kiddo, even after it changes he'll be hesitant to really attack it, but trying to pin it down or subdue won't super work. Whether his compassion for kids/not wanting them to be hurt counts towards appealing to it, that's whatever, but he won't be going on the offensive even after it's clear it's mercilessly kicking his ass.
Additional participant: someone to get Cliff out of the way if necessary during R/C might be good, but I have no particular thoughts or preference!

Character name: Christo
Boss fight: Selfishness/Pity
Major injury dealt to boss: An assault with angelic magic.
Order: Somewhere close to the end. Can deal final blow if necessary, but absolutely okay with others taking the spotlight.
Threat level from boss: Major -- he's going to end up being distracted during the fight and I want to give him the chance to trust other people in later logs while he's recovering
What do you want from this fight? I want Christo to be faced with the fact that the Celestial Host looks down/condescends to humanity and other non-angelic races.
Additional participant: Open to anyone, but Vulcanus will be his major distraction along with the Herald itself.
Player name: Hayley
Character: Archangel Vulcanus
Key details: High-ranking, magic-wielding archangel of Celestia. Attacks mainly with bursts of holy magic. While he's assisting with the battle because he's there, his true purpose is to make his final judgment on humanity once and for all. Seeing this herald (and the fact that it was spawned from humanity itself) will have him come to the conclusion that there is no reason for Celestia to hold back on Armageddon and take these views back to Celestia.
Free use?: Absolutely.
fite bos
Character name: Desidera Neroni
Boss fight: Rage/Compassion
Major injury dealt to boss: Doing a Risky Thing™ and further amping GV's Grand Strizer. Possibly following it up with Additional Bullshit because y'know, where there's light there's shadow, and a big honking sword of lightning is sure a lot of light.
Order: Any point after Gunvolt.
Threat level from boss: Minor to Moderate; she'll get herself roughed up in attempting to protect Gunvolt after he gets himself hurt, but I don't want it to be anything permanent.
What do you want from this fight?
IfWhen Gunvolt gets hurt, Desi's going to start pushing herself in an attempt to end the fight quicker, and this will probably lead to what gets her hurt as well. Despite her own injuries, driven mainly by a need to defend GV and a growing desire to lash out at the thing that would hurt him, she'll keep on going. Beyond defending GV when necessary, she'll also support him however she can.Additional participant: Gunvolt, because obviously.
no subject
Character name: Cordelia Brooks
Boss fight: Rage/Compassion
Major injury dealt to boss: I want Lia to be able to at least shake the Aspect's worldview about striking the first blow against anything perceived as a threat, if not shatter it completely--she believes very strongly that one shouldn't raise their hand at all unless they've first extended it.
Order: I'm cool with wherever this makes sense! Shaking resolve at the start of the fight, a mental coup de grâce... Whatever y'all feel's appropriate is alright with me!
Threat level from boss: Minor, please! I'm okay with Lia being roughed up a little bit
What do you want from this fight? Lia's been sitting on these beliefs for a while after they've developed since she got to Daybreak, and now it's time for her to put her money where her mouth is. Mind, I don't intend for her to not use her weapons at all! I just think it'd be cool for her to mostly use words to get the job done here.
Additional participant: If anyone wants to hop in, I'd be down for discussing that!!!

Those who have been marked and then were woken up will also be able to resist the call much more easily. They may feel a slight pull, but that's all.

Character name: Tobias
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence, Selfishness/Pity
Major injury dealt to boss:
C/I: Gigantic mutant alligator chomps to its arms, awww yiss.
S/P: Chew his way through the puppets, again as an alligator, helping clear a path to the main target
Order: No preference
Threat level from boss: Either Minor or Major is fine, as he won't end up physically injured very long term due to his powers. If given a few minutes he can heal himself between battles as long as he doesn't pass out.
What do you want from this fight?
C/I: BITE BITE BITE. He could also perhaps keep a few people safe by letting them ride on his back--his gator form is at least three times the size of a normal adult alligator, iirc. And I'd like this fight to come before the S/P one.
S/P: Thiiiis one can be the one that fucks the boy up. Tobias feels he's disposable whether he admits it to himself or not, that his only purpose (being a candle) is to fight Nightfall--which is infinitely better than what he thought he was meant for before, but still. Plenty of figures from his past who thought he was weak/useless/etc etc for it to use to taunt him with. This will give away details of his past to anyone who's paying attention during the whole mess, and depending on how it works out, maybe he can come out of it with a reminder that there are definitely worse things he could be doing with his life than saving the world, ayy.

Character name: Jonathan Joestar
Boss fight: Arrogance/Curiosity
Major injury dealt to boss: HIS PRIDE.................
To be clear here, while Jonathan will be aiding in the fight using his new cool stand vines and hamon along it, his biggest 'blow' is probably going to be a Words one. He's seen a lot of Dio in this fight, and that kinda makes him realize something.
If this is allowed I will definitely make this far cooler sounding but tldr- 'Something so focused on Knowledge, and yet how can it be of any use without a body and world to experience it? How can more knowledge ever exist to be obtained. Succeed in this fight, and you will never obtain more knowledge again.'
Order: PROBABLY NEAR THE END??? But. Not a 'final blow' since. It's words and cool glowing. that's all he has...
Threat level from boss: Minor but only because someone is probably going to catch him and also because I need him to fight the other piece of herald,
This could theoretically be achieved by forcing him to flee his phantom body if needed.
What do you want from this fight? ima be real here i just realized that jonathan would have a big huge realization here and it needs....to be seen...
Not really sure it counts as an injury or a fight, ultimately ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Additional participant: someone please pull him out of the line of fire,
Character name: Jonathan Joestar
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence
Major injury dealt to boss:
y'all ever see disney's herculesA blow from the inside to let himself out! I don't know if this will do anything to the mask.Order: Somewhere near the end- being the final blow could be neat, but since this boss is one that can be defeated with words alone potentially, I'd rather the 'final blow' be the one that makes the most narrative sense.
Threat level from boss: Major, bro just got swallowed
What do you want from this fight? eat him, eat the tiny bat,
Additional participant: plot w me..........

Character name: Ky Kiske
Boss fight: Law/Chaos
Major injury dealt to boss: Skewering the boss
Order: no preference
Threat level from boss: Minor
What do you want from this fight? Ky dealing with the extremes of law and chaos - constantly dealing with a changing form and injuries would be gouges and slashes that heals up.
Additional participant: I'm open to plotting
Character name: Sherlock Holmes
Boss fight: Arrogance/Curiosity
Major injury dealt to boss: Let him judo toss a monster into something nasty in the environment
Order: Middle
Threat level from boss: give him a minor injury.
What do you want from this fight? Letting his mind get to work in a fight, and also arguing/debating with the herald part/
Additional participant:
no subject
Character name: Garrett
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence
Major injury dealt to boss: Tactical application of (highly explosive!) Fire Arrows to the creature's mask, either exposing it to a violent defeat or dazing it long enough for a moral victory.
Order: I'd prefer it if Garrett was placed earlier in the turn order rather than later, if possible.
Threat level from boss: Major, broken bones or limbs preferred, see below for additional details.
What do you want from this fight? A chance for Garrett to show that just because he's a thief doesn't mean he can't fight, and for his overconfidence and refusal to rely on others to once again screw him over - preferably by way of him taking a nasty hit that renders him effectively helpless, requiring someone else to save his ungrateful arse.

Character name: Sira
Boss fight: Complicity/Independance | Rage/Compassion
Major injury dealt to boss:
C/I: Sira will be borrowing a random NPC's form and power for this fight via mirror power. They're going to panic and freeze up when they realize how much like themself C/I is/behaves. They'll go for some pleading asking the being to let people go and suggesting it's killing them. Then they'll join Adriel in properly fighting back.
R/C: Sira sets a good example by talking down Adriel from a rage-induced breakdown. Using the mirror power and borrowing Adriel's form+power, they'll also team up for a big old curse attack.
Order: No preference beyond C/I happening before R/C
Threat level from boss: Fuck 'em up. They'll be shifting back to a doll form anyway so it won't SUPER matter in the end. As long as they're able to make it from one fight to the other before their energy is sapped.
What do you want from this fight? From the first fight, I want them to face C/I and see a reflection of themself at their worst. I want that panic moment and pleading which is all their guilt spilling out. Adriel can help shake them out of the moment to get them properly into fighting back, proving that they're in it to win it and C/I doesn't need to do this (while also having a lot to think about with their own life). With R/C Sira's going to cooldown hug Adriel and team with Soul Memory for some HavocTM and I like that to be a good power moment.
Additional participant: Adriel+Soul Memory
no subject
Character name: Adriel
Boss fight: Complicity/Independence | Rage/Compassion
Major injury dealt to boss:
C/I: Physical damage from an outright brawl.
R/C: Mental damage due to Sira being able to talk Adriel down from a rage-induced breakdown rather then killing them as 'first blow' and the Soul Memory (a ball of rage themself) actually co-operating in the fight. Physical damage via a lot of curses as a final attack
Order: No preference! However timeline wise, Adriel and Sira will be fighting C/I before fighting R/C.
Threat level from boss: Go nuts. They just need to be able to go from one fight to the other.
What do you want from this fight? During the R/C portion of the fight, Adriel will be suffering a breakdown from things that have been building up from the past and the Soul Memory attacking randomly via curses and magic. They'll be getting a cooldown hug from Sira and acknowledgment that it's okay to be angry, which is a helping hand for someone who's terrified of their anger. After that they'll talk to the Soul Memory and actually acknowledge that they exist and the Soul Memory will team up with Sira to use a massive amount of curses for a final attack.
For C/I Adriel will be aiding Sira when they start seeing their reflection of themself at their worst.
Additional participant: Sira (user name="emergensirations">) will be fighting alongside Adriel using a possessed NPC.
NPC SIGNUPS - HOUSE GEHRING, BLACK MAGES
Character/organisation name: House Gehring
Key details: House Gehring has offered their assistance once again, as they did in previous open conflict. Along with the mages Aloisia and Mechthild, who are powerful ranged attackers, they have offered three groups of elite, fully-armored fighters who wield spears as their weapons of choice. Trained to hit hard and fast, they can serve as effective distractions or rescue squads who can competently escort and shield others.
They also are lending medical supplies and medics both nonmagical and magical to the effort, as well as the support mage Leudwin, who can emit a variety of healing and soothing effects through the mist they produce from their equipment. Leudwin, unless called out for other purposes, will be smokescreening the main medical treatment area with a mist that gives a rejuvenating effect.
Character/organisation name: Black Mages
Key details: Led by the newly-renamed Feather Waltz, a small troop of black mages have come to offer their assistance in combat. While they prefer to take a more protective role rather than a proactive one, due to their limited amount of magic, they're grateful for the chance to repay the Academy for their earlier help. They use lightning, ice and fire magic in equal measure, creating large explosions that can be used as distractions or ways to strike devastating blows to the Heralds.

I don't understand whether or not if I'm supposed to be first, last, or somewhere in the middle, when the ordering seemed like a pretty important part to all of it.

So we've randomized it.
Also, please don't feel completely bound to the turn order- if you have an idea for something cool and want to cut in line, that's fine as long as the other players don't mind. Same goes for wanting to keep the fight going if other people aren't feeling it or don't have a good idea for a response.
Please note that the turn order is more for player replies than the NPC bosses. To keep the fight flowing smoothly, we'll have the bosses jump in when needed.
