A New Dawn
Due to the Academy’s efforts and their allied forces, Nightfall was prevented once again - to great relief and celebration. Due to the brave efforts of those who engaged the Herald directly and prevented them targeting other, more mundane groups, collateral damage was kept to a merciful minimum, though a certain group of sleepwalkers reported mysterious headaches and blackouts as if they were knocked unconscious suddenly.
The more pressing news is that due to the Herald’s global reach, with many ordinary humans gaining magical powers - not to mention the fight itself- the Veil - the colloquial name for the agreement of secrecy that hides magic and the supernatural from the human world - cannot be restored. The headmistress of Daybreak Academy has seen it fit to announce that though the world is changing once again in the wake of a Herald’s assault, she will continue to uphold the Academy’s policy of providing a safe haven for those who are accepted inside its walls.
Scarlet Nights
Despite this grand victory and the daemon’s humiliation at the hands of the Herald born from humanity, Utultar still remains unaccounted for. Though his movements are seemingly little - he has, apparently, been brooding somewhere in the Outlands, he may well be storing his power for something far worse and more diabolical.
Flowers In Bloom
Though the dragon’s attack - through a physical assault and the blooming of mysterious flowers - some months back that temporarily claimed the minds of several Murakumo personnel and innocent bystanders resulted in many injuries, the Academy’s intervention ensured that those who were affected were able to be restrained and cured from the reaction that the pollen presented. The dragon itself was killed, though the organisation that has taken charge of its remains surmises that it may be the precursor to an even greater threat…
Medical Magic
As the Veil draws back from the mundane world, doctors and medical researchers everywhere are beginning to ask for supernatural consultation in order to create a new, unified series of manuals - a series of reference documents that will allow doctors to treat conditions both magical and mundane. It will likely be one of the largest works in the history of the medical profession, and its completion may span several generations - but all those involved seem eager and willing to contribute their efforts to the proposal.
Outland handshake
Thanks to the fall of the veil, nation-states that had previously relied on secrecy for security are tentatively reaching out to mortal nations for negotiations. The United Nations and other diplomatic bodies are now finding their hands full as diplomats are given crash courses on Outlands etiquette and hired retinues of translators for languages previously thought extinct. They are cautiously optimistic that extending olive branches will have positive results - but warns like all such things, one shouldn’t expect results overnight.
The Right to Know
Freedom of information advocates the group over are now petitioning their local government to release information on how much they knew about the supernatural before the veil’s break. In particular, Australian environmentalist groups demand to know the truth behind the ‘nuclear test’ in the Outback. Political analysts believe the Prime Minister’s response to the requests would set precedent for all democratic nations, and are waiting with bated breath for her answer.
