There are monsters, and then there are monsters...
And then there’s Suneater, Fifth Herald of Night, unfathomably massive primordial beast that is a dragon in the same sense that a Tyrannosaurus is, technically, a bird.
Many vicious and deadly beasts of legend may, however faintly, trace their distant ancestry back to some clutch of Suneater’s, but the most ancient and terrible of dragons hasn’t been seen in years.
Until now.
The monster is awake, walking the Earth once more, and confirmed as the final Herald. And, we cannot stress this enough, the name is not metaphorical.
The dragon will appear at sundown on February 28th, steadily growing in power (and even further in size) over the course of the night as it prepares to pass through the atmosphere, break orbit, and close its’ jaws on the last dawn humanity will ever see. But if we’re strong and brave and lucky, it can be stopped before it makes it that far.
That’s where you come in.
For the Suneater log, due to the immense size and scale of the final Herald, we’re inviting previous players and anyone else who wants to join in to show up for one last battle. This won’t be a classic “fourth wall” event in the sense of having a bunch of people from other worlds suddenly appear without warning- any characters who arrive for the final fight will be a part of Daybreak’s AU canon like everyone else- but it does mean that we’re allowing anyone who wants to join in to do so without apping.
Because this is the finale, the last battle, everyone in this big wonderful bizarre world of magic coming together for the cause that truly unites us all: not getting devoured by a planet-breaking, eternal-night-bringing dragon. (Seriously, that thing is huge.) So we’re calling in everybody. ICly, everyone who’s anyone is showing up, and anyone with favors to burn or contacts to dial is calling them in. Opposed by the army of those keenly aware that this is their final chance to bring down the apocalypse, it will take more than the normal range of the Academy's allies to avert this final threat.
Daybreak Academy is ready to slay a dragon.
Anyone who wants to try AUing their characters into Daybreak is welcome, and we have an AU planning post up for working out your ideas, as well as a CR meme for plotting out any fun connections you’d like your characters to have.
We’re happy to accept OCs, blank slate protagonists, and minor characters with minimal canon, although we will not be allowing doubles of the same character. We’ll be going on a first-come first-serve basis if two people want to play the same character, unless one of them has played the character in question in Daybreak before and dropped, in which case they’ll get priority.
All you need to do is comment below to indicate that you want to participate in the fight, along with the character you’re intending to play. Don’t worry about rushing to any decisions- you have all month to pick, and you’re allowed to change your mind at any time.

Beyond that, I will probably be cameoing the following:
Adell (Disgaea 2), as a daemon from the Outland of Veldime that eventually learned about what was going down on Earth and came to help after hearing about the Suneater. He's gonna be happy there's a big throwdown and is a punchlord battlemaniac. Considering I had debated whether or not to app him or Gunvolt, he'll finally be able to make an appearance!
Marth (Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem era), the OG lord of the series carrying with him Falchion, a legendary dragon-slaying sword forged from the fang of the Divine Dragon Naga. The newly crowned King from the small, but modern, nation of Altea sworn to raise his blade against threats from the Outlands and the evil sorcerer Gharnef and the shadow dragon and distant progeny of the Suneater, Medeus. Having emerged victorious from the hidden War of Shadows and the War of Heroes that stretched into the Outlands, Marth now raises his sword for the good of humankind with the Altean army now adding its strength to Daybreak's.
I have a few others in mind, and I'll update this list when I lock it down.

Trey Clover and Epel Felmier (Twisted Wonderland) as a couple of Daybreak students who have just been hanging out in the background up until this point. It's time to take out a dragon and stop Nightfall for good, and Epel, at the very least, is going to be very psyched about that.
Byleth Eisner (Fire Emblem Three Houses), a former mercenary and Seer from a region of the Outlands known as Fódlan who's done a couple of jobs for Daybreak in the past. She's been a little radio silent recently due to trading her mercenary job for a teaching position at a monastery in Fódlan, but she's back (possibly with her class in tow!) to once again assist Daybreak.
