Planning Post: An Icy Reception

OKAY. So. Information on the Mission Planning post is pretty much the whole of what's going on here, but there are a few extra details!

  • The location is located near/within Subcon Forest, AKA: Avery's old haunt. The dig site isn't necessarily SAFE, but it's a hell of a lot less deadly than the forest itself. Avery will insist that students and Hieke stay in the dig site area and not wander off without him. If you think your characters would end up wandering back into the forest either just to explore or as part of the chaos, please let me know and we can work out some of the hazards.

  • Both forest and dig site are tainted with dark magic. If your character can sense that kind of thing, they WILL. It's stronger at the dig site itself thanks to our icy visitor.

  • There will be some survivors! Please let me know if you want me to NPC them, because I am totally cool with that. Otherwise, the general gist of what they'll describe is a creature wreathed in shadow with piercing, glowing red eyes. The creature spoke with a woman's voice, dark and distorted and lashed out the second she saw them, upset at them for desecrating her home and scaring off her "beloved Prince."

  • Any of the archaeologists who are completely frozen are straight up dead. There's no flesh left, it's just ice all the way down.

  • Said ice statues will eventually come to life and attack the closest person to them. Though not especially strong and as durable as anything made of non-melting, solid ice can be, they are absolutely relentless, with fluid, natural movements. They will continue to attack until completely shattered. Getting rid of the head does not stop them.

  • If Avery is within line of "sight" of the ice statues, he will be the one targeted. It doesn't matter how far away he is from them, they will make a beeline for him. This only applies if he's in human form. If he's full on shadow noodle, they'll continue on attacking the closest person. This behavior extends to anyone who makes themselves look like Avery.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Well Hieke's primary concern will be dealing with the survivors - he's here to heal, etc etc, and he'll probably pick up on the dark magic pretty easily.

As far as the forest goes, he's unlikely to go wandering off to it. But it's tempting, it's really tempting.

But he's more here to help the survivors and the students, so.

Gosh. So Keith is absolutely inclined to wander off alone by himself into the forest to explore on his own because he's kind of a menace like that. He's pretty good at fending for himself but he's also a werewolf and idk if the dark magic in the forest might mess with that? Either way, I'm down for whatever shenanigans ensues as a result of this wandering off.

Keith is absolutely going to try and fight ice statues/anything monstrous he finds because his priorities are hilarious. He will help look for survivors as well, that said and I'd be down for threading with an NPC for that!

Bee's focus will be on protecting the survivors. Possibly by kicking the ice statues.

Now that Puella can jump/climb like a platformer she is definitely going to do some exploration. ...Maybe not into the forest since she has very minimal combat skills right now, but will probably get into some hard to reach places at the dig site itself. Finding more survivors and clues what happened is helpful right? She's helping?

Also yeah she's probably going to trigger some of the statues. Whoops. Goodbye friends.
