The following missions are available for the month of June. We will open official sign-ups on June 1st, but we will hold slots for interested parties in the OOC discussion for 24 hours.

Student Council Voting
All student players, 1 vote per player

Voting is now open for Student Council! While campaigning will continue through the final month students may now vote at their leisure to determine the future of their academy in the next year.

A sword resting within an anvil will appear in the Durham Cathedral courtyard. While the reappearance of the sword in the stone is unavoidable as the world hurtles toward Nightfall, the SSA Supernatural Division is requesting Daybreak’s aid in diffusing populace’s attention. While it is impossible to avoid supernatural explanations for this event, Daybreak is sending a group of representatives as researchers representing the academy to concoct some plausible excuses for the event and ways for the populace to write it off as an oddity as opposed to a major event.

[OOC Note: The Sword is capable of being drawn from the anvil by any character who is some representation of King Arthur in canon. Should such a character be apped, they will be able to draw forth the sword on a first-come-first-serve basis.]

There have been many sightings and legends of ghost trains since the birth of the locomotive throughout history, but only one of them is prominent enough - and real enough - to appear semi-consistently in the supernatural world’s records as the Phantom Express. A magical vehicle able to slide through both the Outlands and Earth at a whim, it’s said to carry both supernatural cargo and the souls of the dead to their destined afterlives. Nobody knows who created the Phantom Express, much less who drives it (or if it even needs those things at all), but it continues to snake its way around the world at a furious pace.

With the approach of Nightfall, what was once a benign, strange entity has been possessed with an unusual and vicious malevolence. Apparently no longer content to collect souls when their time has come, it seeks to fill its cars with the dead - even if it has to tear the souls from the living itself.

The Phantom Express will roam close to Soleil in early June, providing a window of opportunity to board the train, find out the cause of its sudden change in behaviour, and divert it from its current crash course towards a city in France - by force if necessary.

Staff and students should take care not to be separated once on board - it is rumored that the souls of the dead from times past, or something taking their forms, linger on the Express.. This includes the ghosts of important figures in a character’s history, so students and staff are advised to stay alert and aware, and not to trust anything said to them during this time.

Characters on this mission will be loaned special equipment that can eject them from the Express and alert the Academy of their location, to ensure nobody is lost. Extraction should take no more than two days at most.

Daybreak Year-End Prom
26th June
Open to All Characters

Prom is coming! The end of year Prom is a massive gala where university students dress in their finest outfits and dance the night away in romantic revelry.

In the tradition of Daybreak Academy’s proms, the selection of the Prom Court will be through rapier duels in the Rose Chamber of La Pucelle. Here, students interested in taking the crown of Prom Royalty will be given a rapier and will duel with each other, the winning member being those who knock their opponent’s mask from their face. Supplicants for Prom Court must obtain and decorate their own mask in order to take part. These battles will take place in the weeks leading up to Prom.

Prom itself will be a star-studded night of revelry, dancing, and fine food and drink. All students and faculty are encouraged to celebrate this night of passion and love in the style of France’s premier academy!

Herald of Night - Preparation
Open to all Characters

While the peering figure has consumed the visions and dreams of those gifted with the sight, the academy had not stood by idly. They pinpointed the Herald’s arrival somewhere deep in the Australian Outback, and with the forewarning, have already made moves to set up base camps to repel them, including large magi-tech artillery and perimeters to keep the predicted site under 24/7 containment and observation.

With the coming threat also comes monsters, as those not involved with the base building are sent out to deal with the monsters that are emerging from the Outlands to keep everything safe and secured.

I think I want to throw Jolyne at that simply because she will not be content to sit and watch while people are fighting each other with weird swords.

As tempting as a ghost train is, I'll go ahead and leave the fun to everyone else.

...Puella might try to pull a sword out of a stone, though. (Being a British kid and all, it's probably a life goal for her somewhere.)

Akechi's going to go ahead and throw his mask in the ring for prom royalty, because apparently he needs to be even more Utena.

for the record, Mav will not be joining him in these endeavors, he refuses dumb dance court garbage, he's here for the food.

2: I'm wondering if AEGIS, the organization Kohaku is a jr trainee member of, could be called on to help with the defense against the Herald, as just like a few NPC monster hunters that are insane badasses and can help with crowd control.

Definitely looking at the ghost train for Seiji, whereas Sarona is all over that magic-tech building to prepare for the Herald coming.

Christo is definitely getting in on the Herald mission. Probably going to be focusing on logistics and mission control and the like since it's his specialty.
