MISSION POST - NOVEMBER

MISSION POST - NOVEMBER
Log Comm | Network Comm | OOC Comm | Navigation

The following missions are available for the month of November. We will open official sign-ups on November 3rd, but we will hold slots for interested parties in the OOC discussion for 48 hours.

Keep in mind that these dates are IC first - players are welcome to backdate or forward-date missions as they see fit.

To Craft the Night (November 13th, Open Event)
The accumulation of visions has provided Daybreak with a golden opportunity, one that cannot be delayed. The Herald’s ability to overpower visions appears to be ill-developed, which has given us a vision not just of the Herald but of the facility in which it is being created. We will strike at the facility and destroy it and the Herald before it can awaken.
All available forces will be allocated to this mission. It cannot fail.

Roiling Darkness (All Month, open event)
The activity within the Outland as the next Herald is created has given rise to powerful Outland monsters. Borne of the fallen Herald, putrid insectoid creatures of writhing carapaces melded with rotting flesh have begun to swarm out of the permanent darkness left in the wake of the Herald in Australia. The monsters typically have limbs all over both human and insect, eyes in unnatural places, and bladed appendages and razor-sharp fangs and claws. The creatures are vulnerable to Radiance, as well as most magical weaponry. Conventional explosives are about half as effective as normal. For the entirety of the month, there will be heightened activity with the monsters streaming near-constantly out of the mists and darkness. Supernatural Suppression forces have been deployed as part of a UN effort, so the emergence zone has remained under constant encirclement and lockdown, but the creatures are constantly trying to breach their containment.

Daybreak forces may deploy to assist at any time, although depending on their combat skills they may be placed on active containment duty. Rumors swirl around the site after the surprise announcement, and many curious folks with cameras are constantly trying to slip the barricades. Fortunately, with strategically placed detection runes, they never get far, but it is still important to catch them right away and keep them out.

Picking Up The Pieces (November 15th)
Client: Various
Multiple reports of strange creatures moving, supernatural fire, and destroyed monitoring equipment have been sent back from the Daybreak forces stationed permanently at the emergence site of the first Herald. The team on this mission will gather information and attempt to capture some of these strange monsters that have appeared on-site - it’s believed that a smaller, nimbler team dedicated to containment will have a better chance of catching the creatures by surprise.
Faculty: 1/1 (Amaterasu [personal profile] fullthrottleammy)
Students: 2/3 (Nana Daiba [personal profile] playitagain, Miach [personal profile] imitationsoul)

Grim Confrontation (November 20th)
Client: Daybreak
The strange, shadowy creatures that assaulted the Academy a few months back have been spotted converging on a certain spot in the Outlands. Based on this and other information, the Academy believes that the necromancer who targeted several students and attacked the school is beginning to regather her strength in this location.
The team on this mission has a simple task: find the necromancer while her defenses are still down, and neutralise or eliminate her.
Faculty: 1/1 (Valvatorez [personal profile] arcadianvampire)
Students: 2/3 (Keith [personal profile] marmoron, James [personal profile] onebetter)

Appreciating High Art (November 24th)
Client: The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities
The Chief Curator of the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities have given a humble request to the academy concerning the “Risen Phoenix”, an auction house that meets every five years to auction off incredible artifacts and antiques often thought lost to history. In particular, the Curator wish for representatives to get their hands on two items: the fossilized remains of the fabled “Set Beast” and a supposed intact copy of the Book of Thoth - a collection of spells. The academy will send a small group with the ability to blend in and act quick - it is an auction after all - to retrieve the requested artifacts through means fair or foul. Any additional items that could be gained will be considered a bonus.
Faculty: 0/1
Students: 3/3 (Therion [personal profile] bolderfell, Sherlock [personal profile] improbablenotimpossible, Seiji [personal profile] heartofasamurai)

What You Take With You (November 8th)
Client: Daybreak
A team of people investigating a mysterious item in the Outlands has gone MIA, presumed dead with two-way tracking runes on the outside disappearing all at once. This is not an unusual occurrence. People disappear and die in the Outlands with regularity and the team would have been well aware of the risks. What is unusual is that one of the runes has regained power, months later. It's inconsistent, going on and off. Whatever is holding the rune now is on the move. Daybreak has been enlisted to trace it to the source and, with any luck, they'll be able to secure the items the investigation team was originally seeking out; an obsidian mirror.
This event is a player plot. The plotting post for this event is here.

Reflections Lost In Fog (November 10th)
On the retrieval of the obsidian mirror and the journey back into the Outlands, the mirror will activate on contact with Outlands mist. Anyone who looks at it, or any reflective surface around the school, will be sent into a dark, foggy landscape where they can meet others who have also been affected by the mirror’s power. But they won’t be alone; the mirror’s power is such that it will also create distorted reflections of those affected - more specifically, the worst and best versions of themselves.
This event is a player plot. The plotting post for this event is here.

Wolves at the Door (November 26th-December 5th)
A pro-Nightfall faction of werewolves that call themselves the Galra have set their sights on whittling down the forces of Daybreak as well as other magical schools across the world. In light of full-on assaults not going as planned, they’ve decided to take a subtler approach...such as capturing those students and staff who have stepped outside the Academy’s protection in order to extract information for their own ends.

Faculty-run Events

Mini-prompts that can be incorporated into catchall logs, or made into logs of their own. These prompts count for faculty log AC as long as at least one faculty member is running it, though they can also be joint logs.

Decoration By Committee (0/2 Faculty)
It’s November, and encroaching Christmas spirit demands that the faculty be somewhat responsible about beginning to festively decorate the halls. Decking them, as it were. Faculty can run workshops to delegate the work to students, or put their own little spin on things. Or just get into the spirit of an early Christmas, but where’s the fun in that.

Museum Assistance (0/2 Faculty)
Soleil’s Museum of Supernatural History has reached out to Daybreak, asking for a little assistance in making history more interesting from its faculty - namely, in the form of live speeches and whatever else a creative faculty member can come up with. They’re particularly interested in the most long-lived among the staff, but they won’t turn down any extra help.

Community Cauldron (0/2 Faculty)
For those interested in a little more physical work, there’s no shortage of plants to tend - magical plants don’t always follow normal rules. Spending a productive day in Soleil’s more hidden magical gardens is a good way to clear one’s head and get away from the bustle of Academy life - and you’ll get to try some amateur potion-brewing, too.

Faculty Night/Competitive Bonding (0/2 Faculty)
Need a night to unwind and destress now that school is well and truly back in session and the paperwork is piling up? That’s what these little outings are for.

The amusement park is also offering a group discount this month for laser tag. What better way to blow off steam with your coworkers than to shoot them? It worked for paintball.

wrong account, but tentatively curious about Appreciating Fine Art for Ankh.

HOWEVER, with others being interested, he'd be just as satisfied with temporarily Contracting one of the students to keep an eye on the situation/get a feel for if any of the artifacts actually have anything to do with him. A temp Contract with Ankh allows a weak version of one of the following:
- featherfall/levitation
- small amount of fire magic, either offensive or extremely painful healing (burn away the injury)
- keener eyes or certain traits are "highlighted" (ex. red items, magic items, etc.)
- ability to talk to birds
