Welcome to the Pre-Game AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.

Not sure where to start? Feel free to look through the Premise and FAQ for notes on what the game is about, and what to expect. We also encourage you to take a look at our information for in-setting Powers and Secret Societies to help flesh out your character's backstory.

PLAYER INFORMATION

PLAYER NAME: Knight
CHARACTER NAME: Jacob Keyes
CANON: Halo
BLURB: Military officer in the middle of a war with a group of aliens out to take out humanity basically. Also an officer with a knack for creative thinking when it comes to getting his ship out of trouble with creative manuevers and really not afraid to get in the thick of things. He's a good guy but tends to have horrible luck when it comes to life, from finding unexpected ancient alien artefacts that can kill like every living thing in the galaxy to keeping his mouth shut after a training accident went wrong and his instructor was killed and basically seeing his career plateau for years which resulted in him ending up a teacher for ages on the Moon at the military academy there. Also has a habit of getting recruited into secret missions because he's smart enough to help them out with smart actual contributions, and also observing things and putting it all together when he probably shouldn't.

This is just a younger version of him then we see in Halo: Combat Evolved, still the same guy just a little more reckless and really just a guy doing his job and (maybe) getting applauded for it after.


AU INFORMATION

CHARACTER AU NAME: Jacob Keyes
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Grad student and TA
CHARACTER BLURB: A member of a Rune Guard group whose name I will come up with later, whose at the school willingly. I'm thinking his Rune Guard guild is more akin to a dedicated like armor unit in military terms, very mobile and quick to respond, and primarily focused on protecting their little area from incursions and the like.

I'm not sure if he got recruited when he was younger because someone in the group thought he showed promise, or if his family had connections to them and it led to his recruitment, either way it led to him eventually being told if he wanted to stick around he had to go to Daybreak Academy. Something something education, something something it's good for you, something something learn to play nice with others, something something Trouble Is Coming, I think is how it'd have gone down. He didn't object to it honestly, and he's learned a lot and been able to take that back home and use it there when he can, and really his skills in rune craft can really only improve, even if it bugs him some he's not there to help protect folks learning and improving his skills can only help when Nightfall comes.

He's still a rather disciplined guy, and even as a younger student, now turned graduate student he's got a routine going to keep him on task with everything. He gets up at the crack of dawn and runs, rain or shine and probably uses that as a threat with students as a TA to get them to focus.

I can see him really enjoying piloting Runewings, really at his core he's still a navigation officer from a sci-fi canon. Probably has a knack for getting them out of any sticky situations if he's at the helm of it during missions or is the world's worst backseat pilot. He's sorry in advance.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Other grad students who've been around for ages that he'd know to start. Fellow Rune Guard, especially those from more militaristic guilds and the like who just get it, but really anyone who he can sort of talk shop to. A teacher for him to be the TA of also!

DESIRED CR: Friends, or even really fellow students he's helped to mentor in some fashion. He likes to help, and he'd rather give someone that boost up then to see them flounder or waste their talents, and he honestly cares and would sooner take most secrets to the grave then give them up. He's also a quiet nerd in his own fashion and rather well read when it comes to history and some other topics, so people to talk to about that to would be fantastic.

OTHER: I really do mean that he maybe gets applauded for pulling off crazy things like this is just his life. His life is really just a comedy show outside of the game.

Ryoken here is both part of a militaristic faction of the Rune Guard and is a fellow grad student/TA, I could see them knowing each other already and being on decent-to-friendly terms with each other?
