Welcome to the Pre-Game AU Planning Meme for Daybreak Academy! This post is intended to help prospective players plot their AU and figure out who their characters are in this setting and where they want to go, as well as work together with other players to plan future CR, build Secret Societies and Clubs, and generally determine where they want to start their characters, and where they want them to go. In addition to posting up the form, you are encouraged to tag around to other people's forms and discuss potential CR and plans with them. This post is an open forum for all prospective players to hash out interesting ideas for their characters ahead of joining the game.
Not sure where to start? Feel free to look through the Premise and FAQ for notes on what the game is about, and what to expect. We also encourage you to take a look at our information for in-setting Powers and Secret Societies to help flesh out your character's backstory.

CHARACTER NAME: Son Gohan
CANON: Dragon Ball
BLURB: A very friendly (and very awkward) nerd, who loves to learn new things and help others in any way he can. He's always wanted to become a scholar, and has definitely worked hard to do just that, with perfect grades all across the board. However, he's also a half-alien with immense hidden power, which has led to his power being needed to save the world (whether he was ready to use it or not). As such, he's been helping to save the world since he was four years old, and has become a well-trailed martial artist over the years. Not that he particularly enjoys combat, but he has the power to save people, and he wants to be able to use it effectively so his friends and family can always be safe under his watch.
Additional note: His powers as a half-alien are INSANE, and transcribing those powers into something not totally broken is gonna be fun, lemme tell ya.
AU INFORMATION
CHARACTER AU NAME: Son Gohan (Gohan Son outside of Asia)
STUDENT OR FACULTY?: Faculty
CHARACTER BLURB: Gohan is the son of Goku, a talented martial artist known throughout China, and a natural wereape. Having hit his head as a child, Goku grew up with no memories of his family, and ended up being raised by a human affectionately named Grandpa Gohan, who Gohan is named after. Being the son of Goku, Gohan is also a natural wereape, but due to growing up in the Chinese countryside, his ape form was never scrutinized by the public at large, giving Gohan the chance to grow comfortable with his abilities, and just treat it like a natural part of him. At the age of four however, Gohan discovered he had an uncle, another wereape that showed up and demanded Goku renounce the humans. When he didn't, the man kidnapped Gohan, and offered Goku an ultimatum, leading the two to fight to the death.
The stress of being kidnapped, and watching his father get beat around by his uncle, sent Gohan into a wild rage, prompting his Candle abilities to awaken (energy projection, maybe?). They managed to stop his uncle, the man dying from his wounds. From there, Goku's old wereape clan (that he still doesn't remember) began attacking them with more frequency, leading Gohan to have to learn how to fight. And since Goku was under constant threat, the task of training Gohan fell to Piccolo, Goku's harsh martial arts rival, and a powerful Daemon.
The next six years of Gohan's life became nothing but a long string of fights to keep his family and friends safe. Cruel wereapes (Nappa, Vegeta), daemonic warlords (Frieza), and powerful familiars (Androids) constantly attacking his family, and forcing Gohan to have to figure out his powers. It wasn't until Gohan was ten that the attacks stopped, with Gohan taking out the powerful familiar that ended up killing his father, and finally ending the last known threat to his family. However, now Gohan had a clear understanding of the kind of threats that existed in this world, and as such, he made sure to keep training, to keep trying to figure out this power unique only to him.
All the same, with the threats to his family gone, Gohan could now finally dive right into his studies, like his mother always wanted. His homeschooling (which never really stopped, despite the threats to his life) putting him at a graduate level before he was even old enough to start high school. By the time he could go to high school, he was interested in studying abroad, convincing his mother to let him go to the United States. There, he went to a private school in L.A., where he met Videl, and she blackmailed him into teaching her about her powers by discovering his wereape ancestry. They got close very quickly, and ended up dating throughout their remaining high school years. Moving to New York so they could both go to a prestige university, and eventually getting married.
It wasn't until the last year of his graduate degrees that he got an invitation to teach at Daybreak Academy. Once he graduated with his Master's degrees, he and his pregnant wife moved to France, and had their child in Soleil. They have been living and teaching there for four years, with Gohan having gotten his doctorate at Daybreak Academy.
Note: Gohan went to Cornell University and double-majored in Physics and Human Development, with a minor in Education.

PRE-ESTABLISHED CR: Well, Gohan will have been in the Academy for four years, so he'll definitely have a name for himself by now. Plenty of staff probably know him, as well as whatever students he's taught. He would've probably also had plenty of Teacher's Assistants, because he would simultaneously be the nicest teacher to work for, and also the WORST teacher to work for, just because of his workaholic tendencies. He's also most likely mentored grad students, and he's probably got a reputation for teaching the most difficult classes, but just being super nice and accommodating about it???

Energy manipulation seems like a solid flame idea, when it comes to the flexibility- depending on how you spin that it could work for allowing flight? (why u all so powerful, saiyans...)
On an IC note! I'm bringing in Gongenzaka, who will be a born werebear from a small dojo focusing on self control and protecting others; he'll have been at the school for two years roughly (and is now 14), so between that and Gohan seeming like the type of teacher he'd be thrilled with, I think there's grounds for some pretty great CR!

Besides, he can still jump around and get around super fast that way, so like. It works out.
And I agree, I think that'd be amazing CR! Gohan would most definitely agree with that dojo's philosophy, and if Gon needs someone to talk to about the troubles of being a were-animal, that would be the exact kind of thing Gohan would love to do! He'd also love to spar with students if it comes to it, so long as it's just friendly competition and not someone trying to show him up or something, since Gohan is the exact opposite of competitive.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
- People of note in Gohan's background: Goku (dad), Chichi (mom), Raditz (evil uncle), Piccolo (green dad), Frieza (a major asshole), Videl (the best wife), Mr. Satan (basically Hulk Hogan). Everyone else I'm leaving alone in case they get apped, since I don't wanna railroad any castmates too hard.
- Gohan absolutely had a stint as The Great Saiyaman, somewhere around eight years ago (a couple of years into college, in NYC). He couldn't think of a name for himself, so he saw people calling him The Great Saiyaman online, and thought it was so great that he decided to use it. To this day, he doesn't realize they were making fun of him. He stopped superhero-ing when Videl got pregnant.
- His wereape clan are all natural wereapes, with the person who got bitten being treated like a powerful ancestor. They are all basically awful monsters who relish in carnage and like to kill and pillage. Gohan refuses to associate with them at large.
- Frieza was a Big Name Daemon from the Outlands, an effective warlord that subjugated plenty of people in and out of the Outlands, including Gohan's wereape clan. Gohan was part of the group responsible for going to the Outlands and killing Frieza, but he doesn't like to talk about it. Don't send your five year old to the Outlands.
- Gohan was part of a hunter group, in an unofficial capacity. Leaving this broad because I don't wanna railroad, but I'm thinking the Z Fighters basically functioned like a hunter group, under the unofficial guidance of an Angel who protects seven artifacts that can grant any wishes possible. Less an organized group, and more just people with similar interests coming together to protect their way of life. Not sure how much to commit to this, so I'm just gonna leave it here in case of human castmates.
